Guidelines for Establishing Scholarships for International Students upon Enrollment

I.        Object:

New international students (excluding students from IBPIUC and International Bachelor Program, Hong Kong, Macau and Mainland Chinese, as well as overseas Chinese students and exchange students) who are officially enrolled in NCUT and are not entitled to any scholarships and financial assistance granted by authorities in Taiwan.

II.    Qualification:Students are officially enrolled in NCUT.

III. Scholarship Description:

i.      Doctoral Students: Tuition waiver for full tuition fees for two academic years

ii.     Master Students: Tuition waiver for full tuition fees for one academic year

iii.    Bachelor Students: Tuition waiver for full tuition fees for one academic year

The Guidelines for Establishing Scholarships for International Students

I.       Object:

International students registering at NCUT (excluding those students from IBPIUC and the International Bachelor Program, Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland Chinese, as well as Chinese students abroad and exchange students) after the 2019 academic year (inclusive). Doctoral students can complete an application upon the enrollment in the first semester while students in two-year and four-year technical programs and master’s students can only complete an application after studying at NCUT for two (inclusive) semesters or more (excluding graduates and extended students).

II.       Qualification:
i. Doctoral Students:

        • Financial aid will be awarded after enrollment in the first semester.
        • From the second semester, doctoral students must have a minimum average semester grade of 70 (inclusive) (not applicable to students that have no academic achievements but have begun the writing stage of the graduation thesis, as verified by the advising professor), a minimum conduct performance of 80 (inclusive), and should not have any demerit records (including three warnings) in the previous semester.

ii. Master’s Students:

        • The award standards in the third semester: At least 6 credits must be completed in each semester in the first two semesters and the average semester grade in the prior academic year ranks within the top-twenty percent (inclusive) or the top-twenty percent to seventy percent (inclusive) (carrying over unconditionally after the decimal point) among international students in the same college. The same school system and the grade enrolled in the same academic year and semester must have a minimum conduct performance of 80 (inclusive) and students should not have any demerit records (including three warnings) in the previous semester.
        • The award standards in the fourth semester: At least 6 credits must be completed in each seminar in the preceding three semesters (not applicable to students that have no academic achievements but have begun the writing stage of the graduation thesis, as verified by the advising professor) and the average grade in the prior three semesters ranks within the top-twenty percent (inclusive) or the top twenty percent to seventy percent(inclusive) (carrying over unconditionally after the decimal point) amongst international students in the same college, school system, and grade enrolled in the same academic year and semester must have a minimum conduct performance of 80 (inclusive) and should not have any demerit records (including three warnings) in the previous semester.

iii. Two-Year and Four-Year Technical Programs:

Students must complete at least 9 credits in the preceding semester and must have a minimum average semester grade of 70 (inclusive) or grade between 60 (inclusive) and 70 and a minimum conduct performance of 80 (inclusive). Students should not have any demerit records (including three warnings) in the previous semester.

III. Scholarship Description:

i.        Doctoral Students: Monthly stipend of TWD 10,000(USD 333) for two academic years

ii.       Master Students: Tuition waiver for full tuition fees or tuition waiver for half of the tuition fees for one academic

iii.      Bachelor Students: Tuition waiver for half of the tuition fees plus stipend of TWD 10,000(USD 333) or TWD 8,000(USD 267) for each semester for three academic years

Merit-based Scholarship/Financial Aid to NCUT International Students:

I.        Object:

International students registering at NCUT (The international students here are excluding Mainland Chinese, Chinese students abroad and exchange students) before the 2018 academic year (inclusive). Students can only complete an application after studying at NCUT for one (inclusive) semester or more (excluding graduates and extended students). Student are not entitled to any scholarships and financial assistance granted by authorities in Taiwan.

II.      Qualification:

The graduate students must complete at least 6 credits in the preceding semester. (It’s once only and acceptable to apply for the scholarship/aid with the recommendation letter and research project.)  The undergraduate students must complete 9 credits at least last semester. The graduate students must have the minimum average semester grade of 70 (inclusive). The score of morals is 80 and above last semester without demerits or 3 times disciplinary punishments. The undergraduate students must have the minimum average semester grade of 60 (inclusive). The score of morals is 80 and above last semester without demerits or 3 times disciplinary punishments.

Taiwan Scolarship and Huayu Enrichment Scolarship Program

Admission Stipend:

I.    Applicant: Foreign students in International Bachelor Program from countries under the New Southbound Policy

II.  Qualifications:

i.    To be qualified, students shall complete the registration in the semester.
ii.   Students having received the Stipends from the Directions are not allowed to apply for other stipends granted of same nature by the  University. If students are verified to apply for other stipends repeatedly, they shall return the stipends of the Program in full. Failing to return  the stipends will be subject to legal proceedings for repayment.

III.  Review Principle: The International Bachelor Program Students shall complete the registration.

Academic Excellence Stipend:

I.  Applicant: Foreign students in International Bachelor Program from countries under the New Southbound Policy

II. Qualifications:

i. To be qualified, students shall complete the registration in the semester.
ii. Students having received the Stipends from the Directions are not allowed to apply for other stipends granted of same nature by the University. If students are verified to apply for other stipends repeatedly, they shall return the stipends of the Program in full. Failing to return the stipends will be subject to legal proceedings for repayment.

III.  Review Principle:

To be qualified, students shall complete the registration in the semester and pay off full tuition and miscellaneous fee. Also, the academic results in the previous semester shall meet the following requirements:

i. An average score of 60 or above and passing of more than 1/2 of the courses taken.
ii. Absence of punishment above admonition.

Admission Stipend:

I.  Object:Students study in Hong Kong or Macau High School where signed MOU with NCUT.

II. Qualification:

For those who sign up NCUT Self-recruitment of overseas Chinese and Hong Kong/Macau admission, the school principal recommends the best student (one per school), NT10,000 will be issued after official enrollment in NCUT.
